Rainbow Milk

Rainbow Milk
Last week we completed a fun experiment using milk, dish soap, food colouring (red/yellow/blue) and a q-tip. Students arrived at their tables to find a small bowl with milk and the three drops of food colouring (red, yellow, blue). Using a q-tip with a small amount of dish soap on the end, students placed the q-tip in the middle of the bowl and watched what happened to the colours. They were very excited to see the three primary colours mix to create new colours! We then recorded our observations in our science journal.

Cardboard
We are in the middle of a building project called, “My Most Magnificent Thing”. We are in need of some cardboard to help us build our most magnificent things! If you have extra cardboard (moving boxes, cereal boxes etc) please send them to school with your child.

Leaves
Today is the first day of Fall! We spent some time outside this afternoon exploring signs of fall. The students were excited to see the leaves at the front of our school changing colours. They also found a whole bunch of ladybugs! How exciting!! For the next couple weeks, we will be looking closely at leaves. If you have any beautiful leaves that have fallen in your yard, or on the pathways by your house, please feel free to send in a small ziploc bag full with your child. We will be keeping these leaves in our classroom to explore and observe.

Hull’s Wood Field Trip
Students in Room 15/16 will be visiting Hull’s Wood on October 8th (this is a revised date for Room 16). If you are able to volunteer and have a current police clearance completed, please email your child’s teacher.

Pictures
Picture orders came home today. If you are interested in ordering, you are able to order online or complete the forms and send them back to the school. Orders are due by Friday, September 27th.
